John's focus at Southwest Michigan First is to attract businesses to the Kalamazoo Region. He comes to the organization with a background in commercial real estate and economic development. In fact, he holds the honor of being the only person in the nation to hold certifications both as an active member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD).

John graduated from Texas A&M University and is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker. He was directly involved in the leasing and sales of commercial real estate valued in excess of $500 million, and represented more than 4.5 million square feet of commercial lease space. In addition, John has been active in corporate services, representing more than 3 million square feet of space for those firms in need of renewals or relocations.

Prior to joining Southwest Michigan First, John served as Executive Vice President of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation.

John also served as the President of The Commercial Network, an international association of independent commercial brokerage firms, representing 140 major metropolitan areas in the United States, Canada and Europe.
