Paul joined Southwest Michigan First in 2006 to lead the expansion of the life sciences business cluster in West Michigan and facilitate the growth of entrepreneurial companies in the Kalamazoo area. In this role, Paul founded First Angels, a Kalamazoo based angel network, which has closed four investments since its inception in early 2007. In addition, Paul also sources and screens investment opportunities into the Southwest Michigan First Life Science Fund.

Paul possesses more than 20 years of broad business experience, holding various leadership positions in sales management, finance and operations – primarily within the life sciences industry.

Prior to joining Southwest Michigan First, Paul led the Kalamazoo site of a pharmaceutical/healthcare outsourcing company, with full profit and loss accountability, and was responsible for over 100 employees.

Paul earned a Master's of Management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1999 and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1989.
